According to initial information, Augustin Nshimirimana and Edmond, members of the CNDD-FDD youth league, the Imbonerakure, are the main suspects.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, they informed the victim’s father of his son’s death. First, Augustin Nshimirimana said that Ndizeye had been hit by a vehicle on the river Rwaba, near the town center of Nyanza-Lac. But a few minutes later, he changed his story, saying that the young man had been killed while trying to rob a house.

However, testimonies indicate that the victim was beaten up in the street before being moved to a home to support the theory of robbery. Those who saw his body on Tuesday morning say that he had multiple injuries, which contradicts the suspects’ explanations.

Despite his status as an influential member of the CNDD-FDD, the victim’s father demands that justice be done. However, the two suspects reportedly fled immediately after the incident. The local police assure that the investigation is ongoing, but many people fear that this crime will go unpunished, like other cases involving influential members of the ruling party.

This tragedy has aroused strong emotion among the population, already concerned about the increase in violence in the region.

Residents denounce a situation where some individuals feel untouchable, which fuels a general feeling of insecurity.

Eyes are now turned to judicial authorities to see if concrete measures will be taken.

Ndizeye’s family, hurt and angry, hopes that justice will be done and that this assassination will not be closed without further action.
