Makamba-Rutana : farmers complain about the lack of agricultural inputs
Overall, farmers in the provinces of Makamba and Rutana (southeastern Burundi) say that they have not yet been supplied with agricultural inputs for the A growing season. This is causing a delay in sowing. Distributors explain the delay by the lack of fuel but promise to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

The affected are farmers who live in areas far from the town centers of these two provinces.
It is at the provincial town center where the stocks of the company FOMI (Organic-Mineral Fertilizers) are located, which manufactures and distributes chemical fertilizers in the small East African nation.
« We chose to walk to the provincial town center to stock up on agricultural inputs and transport them ourselves to our homes, but we have just spent two days without being served. It is regrettable », laments a farmer from a district located far from the town center of Makamba.
FOMI officials explain that they understand this situation but promise a distribution as soon as possible.
Local distributors, for their part, say that this is due to the lack of fuel to be able to transport these inputs to the areas in all the districts.
