The new boss of the CNC is reassuring.
“I will ensure that journalists can be protected for, the journalists protection is enshrined in the law organizing the CNC, so it is our duty”, announced this Thursday, the new CNC manager. It was during the handover ceremonies with the outgoing president.
Espérance Ndayizeye also indicated this body will closely monitor the trials of imprisoned journalists by playing its role of support to ensure that the files are processed in accordance with the law.
“The CNC will not replace justice, justice will continue its work,” she clarified.
Ndayizeye also emphasized that journalists must be in accordance with the regulations and laws governing the profession and the country.
She subsequently called on the various authorities to recognize the role and contribution of journalists in the country development and then avoid depriving them of information.
The election for the CNC leadership saw the unique candidacy of Espérance Ndayizeye. It was approved by all 12 members present.
In August 2019, when she was already a member of the same CNC, Espérance Ndayizeye was appointed by President Pierre Nkurunziza, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Burundi. She has represented the country since that time, including in Italy and Serbia.
